It is incredibly magical to walk into an area greeted by art galleries; each photograph or painting that hangs on the wall tells a tale, almost as if it’s calling you, and you can’t help but look and consider it for its beauty and hint.
A perfect instance is the Arko Apo Art Gallery in Tam-Awan, Benguet, owned by sculptor, painter, and teacher Benhur Villanueva. The Commemorative Narra wood sculpture “Kapit Bisig” is one of his masterpieces.
Among his compositions, which stem from his humble workshop and encompass much more than his work as a visual artist, are extended interactions with wood, metal, brass, and oil in his gallery, which provided him with a valuable lesson in his artistic life.
Life takes on significance when one can view or enter works of art, much like the creative works of our talented Filipino artists.
